Introducing Our Flavor Wheel

Introducing Our Flavor Wheel
Check out our new flavor wheel created by Infantree! We know how important flavor is when making decisions about which beans to use. In all of our customer surveys this is the #1 reason chocolate makers choose beans, which is not surprising! With that in mind, we wanted to create a guide that would make it super easy for anyone to shop by flavor.

Let’s take a tour through the sections, shall we?

🍫 Chocolate - Standard “cocoa” or “chocolate” flavor. Think: brownie batter, cocoa powder, nibs, and baking chocolate.

🍯 Sweet - An intrinsic sweetness, such as caramel, honey, panela, confectioner’s sugar.

⭕️ Well-Rounded - We define this section as balanced acidity, bitterness, and astringency. This creates a round flavor profile without sharp notes.

🌿 Spice - Aromatic notes, like cinnamon, cloves, basil, or cedar.

🌸 Floral - Fragrant notes of rose, jasmine, honeysuckle and orange blossom.

🍒 Dried Fruit - Browned or cured fruits, like raisins, prunes, dried fig, dried cherry and more.

🍋 Fresh Fruit - This section ranges from berries to tropical fruit, melon to citrus, green apple to stone fruit. If it’s fresh, it fits here.

🥜 Nutty - Flavors of nut and nut butters, roasted or raw: peanut, almond, cashew, macadamia, hazelnut.

We'd love your feedback. Is this useful? Is it inspiring? What beans does this inspire you to try? Let us know.
